State lands stewardship program files, 1950-[ongoing].

The State Lands Section manages and contracts timber sales on forest lands owned by other state agencies. This is done on a basis negotiated by the Alabama Forestry Commission state lands forester acting as a liaison between the commission and that agency. (Procedures Manaual, 1990). Currently, the Forestry Commission is managing forest lands for the Department of Corrections and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. This series consists of records documenting the planting/replanting of trees, prescribed burning, sale of timber, or any other activity performed by the commission as steward to an agency's forest land. Typical records in this series include correspondnence, surveys, tree planting records, memoranda, announcements of timber sales, bid, and estimates.
